Roanoke, Va. (July 25, 2021) - Of the approximately 235,000 people across the Roanoke Valley, one in 10 experiences some form of hearing loss. Yet only one in five of those in need actually wear a hearing aid. This means approximately 19,000 people in the Roanoke Valley have hearing loss, but do not use a hearing aid. This may be because they think hearing aids are embarrassing and uncomfortable. Others find hearing aids to be too expensive or too difficult to maintain.
A New Partnership
Songbird Hearing, Inc. and National Vision, Inc., parent company of nearly 400 Vision Centers inside Wal*Mart stores nationwide, are teaming up to change this perception and to familiarize people with a concept that will change the hearing industry - disposable hearing aids.
On July 25, Songbird Hearing will begin offering disposable hearing aids at the new Vision and Hearing Center inside Wal*Mart located at 4807 Valley View Road in Roanoke. This is one of only two Vision Centers selected for this roll out, with the other in New Jersey on August 3.
